Lemon Balm
Lemon Balm, an aromatic sweet and sour lemon scented herb. It is known as one of the easiest herbs to grow. The leaves have been used traditionally for medicine because of their antioxidant, antimicrobial, analgesic, healing properties. Although the leaves may be used fresh or dried, when they are dry they lose most of their aroma. Lemon Balm aids in treating nausea, headaches, indigestion, anxiety, depression, insomnia, epilepsy, anemia, vertigo, colic, flatulence, digestive disorders by stress, and other related effects.
The herb has analgesic, tonic, antispasmodic, and sedative actions which is especially beneficial when treating any nervous ailments. Lemon balm is a perennial plant with many uses, mainly external but is safe internally. According to specific studies, its essential oil may be advisable for topical treatment of herpetic infections, and other wounds. Fresh juice of the plant is used to relieve stinging of insect bites, and minor wounds.
